Movie Color Script

I'm currently working on a color script study of sort. I'm basically painting off scenes from the movie Girl With A Pearl Earring. My goal is to learn about color and composition and to get more familiar with photoshop. I am not picking colors from the movie with photoshops color picker but trying to eyeball and guesstimate as best as I can. So far I'm enjoying this exercise and hoping to produce 2 paintings per day. I've already learned a few tricks with color and composition and I think my painting has gotten better, faster and loser just by looking at the progression of the shots I've done so far. Plus I just created a brush in photoshop thats closer to an oil paintbrush and I'm really enjoying it. I'll continue to upload my progress as I'm working

Well this blog has been dead for a while. Time to bring it back to life. Thanks for the comments and encouragement guys. Since I have more time on my hands now I'll keep posting stuff more regularly. For now, here's stuff I've been working on this past semester and will probably keep working on over summer. So look out for updates!

Figure drawings of the month and more

Well it was a tough month for me, drawing wise. But things are starting to look up, and not a moment too soon because I have a portfolio review on April 20th. The head and drapery studies were done a while back. The figure drawing is my most recent work.

I went back to the basics on my figure drawing. At first I was really frustrated that my figure drawings seemed to be getting worse. So I went back to practicing the fundamentals. I guess its kinda like building a house. If your walls and floors buckle and crack, go back, and fix the foundation.

As Emperor Joseph II would often say in the movie Amadeus, "well, there it is."

25 Mins

Seriously though, if you haven't seen the movie Amadeus you live a sad life. Go get it!!

Master Head Study

Drapery
The bottom drapery is rather, odd. It kinda looks like the roots of a tree which was honestly not my intentions. Whats most interesting is that I drew this the same week we were assigned to draw 50 trees from life.

Well thats it for now. I promise I'll post some more drawings very soon. As well as some paintings!!!
