Figure drawings of the month and more

Well it was a tough month for me, drawing wise. But things are starting to look up, and not a moment too soon because I have a portfolio review on April 20th. The head and drapery studies were done a while back. The figure drawing is my most recent work.

I went back to the basics on my figure drawing. At first I was really frustrated that my figure drawings seemed to be getting worse. So I went back to practicing the fundamentals. I guess its kinda like building a house. If your walls and floors buckle and crack, go back, and fix the foundation.

As Emperor Joseph II would often say in the movie Amadeus, "well, there it is."

25 Mins

Seriously though, if you haven't seen the movie Amadeus you live a sad life. Go get it!!

Master Head Study

Drapery
The bottom drapery is rather, odd. It kinda looks like the roots of a tree which was honestly not my intentions. Whats most interesting is that I drew this the same week we were assigned to draw 50 trees from life.

Well thats it for now. I promise I'll post some more drawings very soon. As well as some paintings!!!

These are my homework assignments from Sheldon's class that I did last week. They are just 3 torso studies and a drapery study. I spent a lot more time then I normally would with this assignment and I'm pretty happy with the results. Hard work does pay!

How it all began.

Well, lets see, whats a better way to start this art blog then by showing a self portrait? How about a really embarrassing, hideous, uuuuugly and unflattering self portrait. This was originally supposed to be a basic frontal, head chopped off, self portrait. But I decided to try something different because I was really bored with that formal stuff. So did a little thumbnailing and this is what I came up with...

Testing, testing, 1-2-3

Just testing out how I can best post my work. But in case you were wondering, this is just a picture of some drapery study I did.
Not really my favourite but a fun effort.

My First Post!!!

Well, here it is. My first blog post.

First off I would like to thank everyone for checking out my blog and showing some interest of my work. The main purpose of this blog is to document my progress and growth in my drawing, painting and storytelling skills. So I'll be posting a lot of my work here including projects from school, pages from my personal sketchbook and whatever personal projects I'm working on.

One of my goals is to post something once a month, until I get used to this whole blog thing and get faster with producing work. Then I'll step it up to at least a post a week. But that may not be for a while (I give myself 6 months)

Hopefully at the end of my stay at S.J.S.U I hope to use this blog as an online portfolio. I think it will be great, then, to look back at my work, now, and see how much of a growth I've attained with my art skills.

It should be a fun experience and hopefully a successful journey.
