Color script continued

This last one was a tough one, because there is a lot of stuff and different colors involved. It was really hard getting all the warms and cools to harmonize and also hard staying loose with all the detail going on in the scene. I wish I could keep working on it and clean up my edges but I gotta move on to the next scene. Maybe when my painting skills get better I might go back and fix this stuff up. For now I'm just gonna keep themas nice and loose gestures, try and match up all the colors and values and to maintain the same mood. I definitely have to work on my edges though, yuk!

Ha I just did a quick side by side comparison of the entire script so far and wow, my colors are waaaay off!! Plus my values are far too light with not enough contrast in some. Oh well, just keep moving.

Figure Drawings - The good, the bad and the ugly

Movie Color Script

I'm currently working on a color script study of sort. I'm basically painting off scenes from the movie Girl With A Pearl Earring. My goal is to learn about color and composition and to get more familiar with photoshop. I am not picking colors from the movie with photoshops color picker but trying to eyeball and guesstimate as best as I can. So far I'm enjoying this exercise and hoping to produce 2 paintings per day. I've already learned a few tricks with color and composition and I think my painting has gotten better, faster and loser just by looking at the progression of the shots I've done so far. Plus I just created a brush in photoshop thats closer to an oil paintbrush and I'm really enjoying it. I'll continue to upload my progress as I'm working
